Hi my name is Fraulaine, but call me Lainey!!
When I first started my family at the age of 17, I gained so much weight (about 40lbs). At first I used the "new mom, baby weight gain" excuse. Honestly I never really cared about how much weight I gained. I was happy and I (thought at the time) was healthy, at that point my family was all that mattered. Then when my son began to walk at 9 months, that's when it hit me; with the walking around, pushing small furniture around, making a huge mess, I got exhausted very fast!
I kept telling myself "I'm going lose weight, I'm going to lose weight". With the attempt of eating healthy and my cheat day (that turned into days and then weeks), I ended up gaining another few pounds on top of the 40.
I needed help! But I didn’t know who to go to, I didn’t have time to go to anyone. On top of being a new teenage mom, I had a full time and a part time job and went to school full time. At that time I barely had time for my son. You're probably wondering "when did you sleep?" The answer to that was, when my baby went to bed. For 4 years I didn’t lose any weight. Instead I gained a few more pounds! I slept for no more than 3 hours a day and a few naps here and there (sometimes I took short naps at school).
My ex (boyfriend at the time) decided we should move with back with my parents, so this way I can keep only my part time instead of my full time job.
The semester ended in April when it was a little warmer, for most it's a time to start their vacation; in my case, it was a time to figure out what I have to do to lose weight and stay healthy. I have a good friend Paul who I met in high school, I heard he went to the gym a lot and he went to boxing class. Long-story short, we talked and I ended up joining the gym he went to. I was glad they had a daycare at the gym, so I was able to bring my son along. Unfortunately there was a 1 hour limit for the daycare therefore I only worked out for 1 hour (which was okay because I wasn't used to the gym and I got tired really fast lol!). I thought I was able to workout on my own, but for a month I didn't see any results! I was too shy to ask my friend to train me because I might be wasting his time. But when we were hanging out I was laughing about something and jokingly asked him to train me (because he's a good friend, he was willing to help me, but his one condition was: to not give up and do as he says. I was kind of nervous and immediately regretted asking him.
Do you think I gave up or I continued to workout?
Did I lose weight or did I gain more weight?

Wow Lainey what a inspirational post. I can see that you are a strong and hardworking mother! #teamhealthy
ReplyDeleteThank you Keely! I try
DeleteLove this post it is very inspirational. I admire that you are able to go through alot and keep your head up high. PS you have a cute son :D
ReplyDeleteThank you Anita :)
ReplyDeletewow sounds like you're very motivated, Lainey! I hope I can be as determined as you were when I have my baby. Obviously I can't even imagine right now how hard it must be to find the time and energy to even focus on yourself once you have a little one running around but I'm sure everyone who's read this can admire the fact that regardless of obstacles, you still came through and made time for yourself :)
ReplyDeleteYou seem very goal-oriented so I'm sure you continued to work out, not only that, your trainer sounds like a hardass so I highly doubt you got any cheat "weeks" with him lol
You & your son look happy and healthy & thats all that matters :) hope you're continuing to live a healthy lifestyle.
Thank you Roooofaloof, with my busy life, I try my best to take care of myself and my son
DeleteHi Lainey
ReplyDeleteIn answer to your question, I think you did end up losing the weight. Being able to work, go to school and be a mom all full time shows you are able to do these things. I bet there were ups and downs but that would depend also on how "fit" you were before as well.
Your son is adorable!
Hey Jessica, yes there were a lot of ups and downs here and there, but I try my best.
DeleteAnd thank you, my son is adorable
Hi Lainey, I'm overweight and girls don't like me. All the girls I like reject me and I can't get a girlfriend. One day I found this girl I like she's gorgeous and we clicked! A month later talking with her I told her I like her. But she said she liked this other guy!! I was so disappointed I think I will start getting fit!
ReplyDeleteBtw that guy that she likes, he looked like superman...how can I compete with that??
Hey biggerthanwhale23, I would say start to get fit for yourself and not to get girls.. chances are if you guys have great conversations and you both clicked, but yet you get rejected, then she's not the right person for you. Focus on yourself first, don't try to compete with someone who's fit. If girls only like them because of their body and not personality, I doubt it will workout for them. Work hard to lose weight and be healthy, sooner or later you will reach your goal and you will show those girls its their loss lol Good luck with everything and I hope you'll lose weight for yourself and not for anyone else. Stay tuned, I will blog about benefits of staying healthy
